Nearly two weeks after Prince Louis turned 6 years old, his older sister Princess Charlotte is celebrating her own birthday, and the Royal Family is marking the occasion by sharing a new portrait taken by Kate Middleton.

Prince William and Middleton kept their birthday tradition going on Thursday (May 2) by sharing a new photo taken by the Princess of Wales on social media of their daughter as she celebrated turning 9 years old. The royals typically honor their children — including Prince George, 10, and Prince Louis, 6 — with new portraits for their birthdays. In the pic, Princess Charlotte can be seen wearing a denim skirt, navy shirt and maroon cardigan while leaning against a fence covered in flowers and smiling at the camera.

"Happy 9th Birthday, Princess Charlotte!" the post reads alongside a note thanking supporters for "all the kind messages today."

Photos from the Royal Family have been under scrutiny recently after it was discovered that an image taken by Prince William of his wife and children and shared on social media to mark Mothers Day in the U.K. had been edited and subsequently removed by multiple news agencies. Middleton, who recently revealed her shocking medical diagnosis, later admitted to editing the photo.

People reports that the outlet understands the new photo shared of Princess Charlotte for her birthday has not been edited, and neither was the one recently shared of Prince Louis.

Happy birthday, Princess Charlotte!
