Well, it's here.
1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run.
I'M FREAKING OUT!!
Seriously though...as I write this, we have less than 9 hours until the race starts. I can't believe that it's already here, but I'm so stoked. It's funny, because I don't have much of a dramatic story this year like I did back in 2011. I had no wrecks and no figuring out triathlon for the first time. I've lost about 60 pounds since February, but that's about it. I actually trained really well for this race and I feel completely confident going into tomorrow. I really think I have a chance to shatter my 15 hour time from 2011.
By the way, you should totally come out tomorrow and watch the Redman! It's a really cool event with some amazing athletes who do incredible things. There's no OU or OSU game, so as far as I'm concerned, you have no excuse! Plus, if you have kids there's a really cool kid zone (pictured above) for the kids to play around in while you watch these amazing athletes compete! It starts at 7:15am and will go until the last competitor crosses the finish line, sometimes well after midnight. I'm serious when I say that it's an event that will give you serious goosebumps. And if you do come out, don't be afraid to yell and cheer for the athletes...believe me, we live off the motivation!
And by the way, if you want to track my progress through the race tomorrow, you can do so here:
My bib number is 784 and you can see where I am at various points throughout the race.
I wish I had some really emotional words to share or something deep and profound to say, but I really don't. I'm just plain excited. Excited that I pushed myself to get back into shape to give this half-iron triathlon another go after I said I'd never do it again. Excited that I get to try and prove to myself again that I have what it takes. Excited that I'll once again be able to call myself a RedMan. See you out there!!
