If Fox gets its way, Britney Spears will be back on the “X Factor” judging panel this fall.
At the network’s Television Critics Association session in Pasadena, Calif. on Tuesday, Fox president Kevin Reilly said Spears “did a really good job” on the show’s second season, despite some perceived hiccups.
Spears’ contestant Carly Rose Sonenclar made it all the way to the finale, narrowly losing to Tate Stevens.
“People remain fascinated with [Spears] and always will be,” Reilly told critics. “She’s just an interesting figure who’s lived a unique life, and I thought she brought some of that. Maybe some people were waiting for more drastic displays of some nature that never came.”

Perhaps fans will get to see that in season 3, as Reilly made clear the network wants the pop star to stay on the show.
That said, he noted, there haven’t been any talks yet about who will return to the panel, which also includes executive producer Simon Cowell and fellow new judge Demi Lovato.
L.A. Reid revealed in December that he is leaving the show to focus on his job as chairman of Epic Records.
